When I wrote in to take part in Central TV’s ‘Get fit for Summer’ campaign, no one was more surprised than me to be selected. I asked to take part as six months previous I had given birth to my third child and had not been able to loose the last 7lbs from the 3 stone I had put on during the pregnancy.
When I met Barbara (who was the nutritionist for this Central T.V. program), I wasn’t really sure how her eating plan would help me. For the major part, it followed my existing eat plan – no caffeine, no sweets and no dairy products. However, it did involve one aspect that I found very difficult to follow, drinking 4 pints of water a day. I would be the first person to say that I was sceptical but as I had volunteered to take part, I felt that I at least owed it to everyone to try. Was I surprised by the results!
In about 8 weeks, I had lost 10lbs – more than I originally wanted to. I was actually eating more than I used to and I was finding this new eating plan quite easy to follow. I could only manage about 3 pints of water a day but that was far more than I had been drinking before so I thought it was quite an achievement.
The biggest change however, was not the amount of weight that I lost, but the way I felt. I felt happier than I had in a long time. I suddenly had this confidence that seemed to shine through that was noticed by everyone. I also didn’t seem to be tired anymore, which with three small children is always a blessing.
When I was asked to write this testimonial for Barbara, I had no hesitation in doing so. The plan definitely worked for me and I have recommended it to other people who have followed it with the same success. Barbara was always there when I needed her and if I found any aspect difficult, she did not see it as a failure but suggested alternatives. I can honestly say that this plan was life changing for me and I know it will be for anyone else who chooses to follow it.

I started this diet as part of Central TV’s shape up for summer program, in which there were several participants and Barbara was the Nutritional Therapist who was there to help us achieve our goals.
I had to lose a stone to be able to fit into my wedding dress. At first I was daunted about the diet. It was going to mean quite a few changes to what I ate and how I cooked. However, Barbara took us in gradually getting us to begin by avoiding certain avoids and by adding some easy alternatives. Once I had got used to the diet, I found that it was not as hard as I thought it would be. I did have a few chocolate moments, but that was ok because on the whole I stuck to the diet and Barbara was there to motivate me to get back on course.
Thanks to this diet not only did I lose the weight and fit into my wedding dress but I discovered that my energy levels dramatically increased. Also, my health problems and symptoms disappeared. We also found out that I had an intolerance to gluten and once removed from my diet I felt so much better. Without Barbara’s help I would have continued to eat foods, which would have made my health problems and symptoms worse leading to goodness knows what.
Thanks to the diet and Barbara’s support, I not only fitted into my wedding dress but I had a wonderful wedding day with more energy and less stress that I ever imagined.

You are likely to have employees working for you with similar health problems and you may not realise it. You probably have higher absences of sickness than you would like. Thank you for your life coaching sessions. Whilst realising the importance of time lines in certain things I do, I find them unhelpful in writing my book. I feel that they create undue pressure in what is a hobby and leisure activity.
However, I do use time lines in my daily office work and this has made a great deal of difference, not only for myself but for office colleagues as well.
Being creative cannot be ‘done to order’ or to a specific timescale, because missing a target starts a feeling of failure.
The coaching has had a very positive effect on helping me to get started on my book project, which is now progressing very well. I valued the quiet times in our sessions because they enabled me to think about aspects of the goal or problem and to arrive at my own solutions. Even when not actually writing the words, I am able to think about stories not only when I am quiet, but at any occasion and then jot down the ideas when I can.
I also found the visualisation process and swish techniques very useful in helping me to achieve my goal and eliminate problem areas.
The action plans enabled me to set a timescale and motivated me to sort out my future goals by the next appointment.

Dear Barbara,
Thank you for your input with my recent life coaching and performance coaching sessions. I found the ‘wheel of Life’ and ‘values elicitation exercise very useful as it enabled me to re-evaluate my goals from those I initially listed and to focus on what I really desired to achieve.
The ‘time lines’ were also good, making me analyse each goal by breaking it down into realistic and achievable chunks. The feeling of success was great as each step was achieved and crossed off.
Setting goals with purpose through the help of ‘time lines’ and being open as to how they would be achieved without pressure, was paramount and not something I had done properly in the past.
My internal commitment to achieving my goals is very high especially as one of the major goals has already been concluded, and at least 1 year sooner than planned. This was the purchase of a new luxury Lexus LS430 car, which I started dreaming about owning 3 years ago. Needless to say nothing materialised until you gave me the impetus to really focus on whatever I desired.
Your suggestion about using a scrapbook but re-naming it a ‘wealth book’ for keeping visual images of my goals was a great idea as it gave the impression of being much more positive.
Adding with emotion of seeing, hearing, smelling and feeling each goal as though already achieved is also a very important part which you taught me. Eliminating negative beliefs through the visualisation process and ‘swish technique’ was a great help.
In our discussions, I appreciated the periods of silence which allowed me time to think and come up with my own ideas/solutions
I am really looking forward to the coming months and bringing more of my goals to fruition. One has to put effort into this, sometimes at the expense of other pursuits, but it is very true that the more one achieves the more confident they become and the more positive thing and events flow towards them. I have certainly found this to be the case.

Thank you Barbara
Since Pat and I attended your Life and Performance Coaching sessions some strange circumstances have been happening. You may remember that I had the purchase of a new car as one of my major goals. In fact, it had been on my goal list for about 3 years time!
After focussing more clearly on exactly what I wanted I tried to get some good photographs of the particular modal and colours we wanted, to aid my visualisation. These were for our 'Wealthy Life Book'.
However, when I approached the marketing department of the manufacturer concerned they did not have any photographs. Next I tried the main dealers in Oxford. They could only get them off a website and would not have been good enough quality for me. Finally I wrote to one of the manufacturer's directors, who managed to send me 3 good pictures in the appropriate colour combination. This I later discovered was quite an unusual colour hence all the difficulty.
Within two weeks, I received a telephone call from the dealer in Oxford stating that they may be having a trade-in, just over 1 year old in the exact model and colours we desired.
I told them that I could not afford to buy it at this time as I had budgeted for it late next year, but that I would be interested in going over to take some photographs and test drive it.
This I did 3 days later when they had brought the car in, but I had no intention of buying it. However, we started talking and purely as a matter of interest they suggested perhaps they could put together some options and figures.
To cut a long story short, after 3 weeks of negotiations they came up with a very good deal which enabled us to buy it.
I am staggered by how quickly this situation developed for a dream to reality. I now have over 60 goals on my list from the small and mundane to the very large, like a new house.
This just goes to prove what you advise in your sessions is true. If you desire something strongly enough, ignore how you are going to get it, just think and somehow you will attract it, good or bad. So be careful, only think good and positive thoughts, not bad negative ones.

Positive Impact Performance Coaching
Barbara has given me help, guidance and support during the coaching sessions. The experience has changed me, especially how I view things, making decisions, staying positive, perceiving myself and achieving my lifetime dreams and goals. All the open questioning made me look deeper into a goal/situation or even myself was fascinating. During the questioning there were a few silences which gave me time to reflect on the last question and think of other things to add.
The focus of the session’s were mainly my choice based on what I was experiencing at that time. One focus was my wedding in August, looking at controlling stress levels, developing an action plan and having clear points to achieve. One or two sessions sometimes seemed not over useful and then something would happen which showed me the coaching was very helpful. For example remaining positive at all times, not letting any negative thoughts through, even when you feel down and experiencing difficult times especially at work, it amazed me how much better I dealt with a situation and how I came across to people.

I really now understand my own strengths and weaknesses in great depth which has built up my own self worth, where I want to go in life and how to achieve my lifetime dreams – I know are possible. My understanding of affirmations and visualisation has helped when achieving a goal or dealing with an uncomfortable situation. One visualisation of my wedding day was so vivid, picturing how everything will be, the details and positive belief for the day. Using my anchor with the swish techniques to change a situation energetically, giving me the confidence and belief in myself. When I agreed to the life coaching sessions I never expected them to have such an impact and a feeling of control over my life. Barbara is an amazing, marvellous and encouraging person.
